Our political movement is deeply committed to inclusivity, transparency, and grassroots democracy. The Continuous Motion Development Process empowers our members to actively participate in policy development, reflecting our Green Values and contributing to positive change for our country and planet
Policy Proposals are developed, debated, and amended in the WeDecide Greenhouse and Workshop spaces. After an online Policy workshop for final review and revision, it's time for an all member vote. Our Continuous Motion Development Process fosters inclusive decision-making, amplifying every member's voice in shaping the party's direction.
Process Overview:
Step 1: Policy Proposal Submission
Members submit policy proposals in the WeDecide Greenhouse. Proposals, whether fully formed or initial ideas, that obtain enough sponsors move forward.
Step 2: Refinement in Workshop Space
Policies are refined through member discussions, feedback, and amendments in a collaborative environment.
Step 3: Online Policy Workshops
These sessions facilitate debate and friendly amendments to policy proposals using the Green Rules of Procedure Adapted for Online Meetings.
Step 4: All Member Vote
Policies must receive at least 60% approval in an all-member vote to be added to the Green Party of Canada's policy book. To ensure broad consensus, the minimum number of ballots cast must meet the quorum requirements of general meetings.
This iterative, participatory method allows our members to drive the future of our party and nation. We are creating a more democratic, equitable, and sustainable Canada.
Directives to Federal Council, and constitutional and bylaw amendments are also developed, debated and amended in the WeDecide Greenhouse and Workshop spaces. These governance proposals are then presented, possibly amended, and voted upon at General Meetings.
